Dr. Bere Miesen started the first Alzheimer’s café in the Netherlands in 1997. His colleague and co-author, Dr Gemma Jones, introduced the concept to the UK in 2000. Just like our cafés in the US, the cafés in Britain use both Alzheimer’s and memory café.
